FISHING FORWARD UK DEMANDS AN OVERHAUL OF UK FISHERIES REGULATIONS AND ASSOCIATED SCIENCES.

Never before has the UK fishing industry faced as many threats to its long term future. Decades of ill conceived stock estimations, the non-monitoring of Spanish and French landings and their illegal gill net fishery west of Shetland have all led to the formation of this group of concerned UK fishing industry representatives.

Not only are remote fishing communities suffering from sustained governmental neglect, but so too are millions of sea creatures. A 2018 WWF report estimated that around 650 000 marine animals are killed by gill nets every year and suffer long, painful deaths. This wide-spread institutionalised suffering of people and animals must stop now, and this is our primary goal here at FISHING FORWARD UK.
